I believe everyone needs a side project. Be wild, be brave, be curious and go experiment 🦖.
Sometimes, it can be a little scary, but the invaluable experiences are undeniably satisfying and rewarding.

Keep or Part?
Oh, dear used cookie paper cups, what possible second life can I create for you? 🤷♀️
It has become harder and harder for me to discard things, especially after August 7, 2021. My mom was always aware of her environment, she reduced, reused and recycled. After her passing, I realize I'm constantly looking for possible ways to reuse materials that are not needed. I certainly don’t want to be wasteful but I also don’t want to hoard stuff.
Bye bye, cookie paper cups.
My Sunday
Raid my own art drawer, spend the entire day experiment with colors, mediums & textures, and loving every minute of it.

Surprise
I don't feel well. After all these years, I assume I have learned to be better at listening to my own body, yet she just shocked me by showing me otherwise.
Usually, we have our good and bad days, but this week has been especially rough. It feels like we're in the middle of the ocean trying to stay afloat and have yet to find the rhythm to paddle in sync. Though we are both exhausted and frustrated, I still believe we will get through this together.

Minor Secrets
I have a well-used pruning scissors with rusted tip and a grey plastic grip. It was a hand-me-down from Nancy for harvesting her vegetable patch in return for a few cat-sitting favors
Over the years, I have taken a liking to this pair of scissors and found myself many times on a walk or hike wishing I had brought it with me. Finally this summer, I decided that it should have a spot among the keys, the iPhone, and the hand sanitizer in my everyday bag.
I believe we sometimes do carry one or two unusual items with us, and mine is this pair of down to earth pruning scissors.
Change
The truth is, I can write and I can't write. I discover Moon List when looking to start a project for myself in hope of learning to write again. And, What better way to start my voice finding process than by writing about things that I'm drawn to. With sets of questions, prompts and lists, "The Moon Lists is a tool for noticing the mosaic of objects, thoughts, and feelings that make up everyday existence."
To my future self, I can't wait to read stories with honest words by me.
There are a lot more cloudy days, most trees at peaks, I guess we are deep into Autumn.
It feels right to start a new piece.
My mom is 81. Today is her birthday. Being thousands of miles apart from each other, during the lockdown, we made a notion to FaceTime each other every day. She is 12 hours ahead, hence 8pm my night will be 8am her next morning. It has been 3 months since we started and this piece of artwork is inspired by our daily virtual gathering. It is made for her and by her.

This is one of many vacant homes in Yoshino, Japan. I walked past it every day during my four days stay in town. Unsure of what memories it once filled, I was drawn to its wabi-sabi aging facade of various striped patterns and the natural color of white to rust.

Some nights at home, there will be no reading, browsing, or gaming. Just me carefully working a pair of scissors creating lots and lots of shapes.
