A Quieter Tale ◡ 030
Hiroshi Sugimoto's Confession of Zero discreetly resides in an 18th-century chapel with a small window as the only source of light in the space. As I entered the space before adjusting to the darkness around, my eye was drawn to these two triangular shadows facing off against each other — with so much tension and energy.
"As an artist, I wanted to give zero a shape. I made a mathematical model in two parts, an upper and a lower, of which the upper is suspended in the air. The realm of zero lies in that narrow interstice where the two points confront one another here in this 18th-century chapel at Castello di Ama." —Hiroshi Sugimoto
